Quick Thoughts:  Saw them last summer at The Honda Center in Anaheim.  Couldn't pass up the chance to witness one of the legendary bands of Rock History.  Great energy on this song.  This was the first song featuring the keyboard playing of Eddie Van Halen.  Lyrics refer to a state of declining youth.  (Have you seen Junior's grades?)

Having grown up listening to mostly hip-hop, R&B, some alternative, and all sorts of music in Spanish, I decided it was time to give myself a personal survey of Rock music.  My friend BJ Swanner compiled a "Top 1000 Rock Song List", aggregated from several "Top Lists".  As I go through all 1,000 songs, I'll be creating my own list, sharing a brief post like this, along the way, for all the songs that will make my final list.   I will not be ranking the songs that make it to my final list.....for now.

Rock Survey - Long Live Rock (The Who)

(this is not a high quality video, unfortunately)

Quick Thoughts:  As a song that seems anthemic to the genre, an appropriate way to begin a survey of rock music.  Seems like the evolutionary offspring of earlier rock songs like "Johnny Be Good".  Fun song, though the lyrics are mostly non-sensical.
